Quick answer: Volpe Service Company is a SaveGreen NJ Participating Contractor. When you install qualifying high-efficiency HVAC equipment with Volpe, we process the PSE&G rebate paperwork on your behalf and apply the rebate as an instant discount on your invoice — up to $1,050 for qualifying cold-climate heat pump installs, with 0% on-bill financing available on top. No forms for you to file, no waiting weeks for a check, no chasing PSE&G customer service.

The “concierge” promise

Three things we do that most contractors don’t:

  1. We tell you the exact rebate amount before you sign. Your quote shows the current PSE&G SaveGreen rebate for the specific equipment proposed. No surprises at the invoice.
  2. We file the paperwork. PSE&G’s SaveGreen process has a participating-contractor portal we file through. You sign one customer-authorization form; we do the rest.
  3. The rebate hits your invoice immediately. No “we’ll deduct it after PSE&G approves” or “wait 6–8 weeks for a check in the mail.” Volpe carries the timing risk; you get the discount upfront.

What does PSE&G SaveGreen cover?

PSE&G’s SaveGreen program is the largest residential energy-efficiency rebate program in New Jersey, funded through the NJ Clean Energy Program. It rewards qualifying HVAC equipment installations across:

  • Cold-climate air-source heat pumps (the most heavily incentivized category)
  • High-efficiency central AC (above the federal SEER2 minimum)
  • High-efficiency gas furnaces (typically 95%+ AFUE tier)
  • High-efficiency boilers (typically 90%+ AFUE tier)
  • Heat pump water heaters (separate eligibility)
  • Smart thermostats (modest rebate; usually bundled with other equipment)

Current cap on the highest-tier cold-climate heat pump install: typically up to $1,050 instant rebate. Specific tiers and dollar amounts update over time — verify current values at the PSE&G SaveGreen website or ask us when you quote.

0% on-bill financing — the stack on top of the rebate

PSE&G SaveGreen also offers 0% on-bill financing up to $15,000–$25,000 (current at time of writing; verify on PSE&G site) on qualifying equipment installations. The financed amount is repaid through monthly add-ons to your PSE&G bill at zero interest.

The combined effect:

  • Instant rebate at install reduces the up-front invoice
  • 0% on-bill financing spreads the remaining cost interest-free
  • Federal IRA credit (separate program) further reduces total cost at tax filing

For income-qualified customers (Low-to-Moderate Income tier), enhanced rebate amounts may apply. Eligibility depends on household income; we screen for it on quotes that may qualify.

What equipment qualifies?

The PSE&G SaveGreen tier requirements (general, current at time of writing — verify specifics):

EquipmentTypical qualifying threshold
Cold-Climate Air-Source Heat PumpNEEP-listed CCHP with HSPF2 ≥ 9.0 (varies)
Central AC16 SEER2 + (varies by capacity and configuration)
Gas Furnace95%+ AFUE
Boiler90%+ AFUE
Heat Pump Water HeaterSpecific efficiency thresholds

The AHRI matched-system certificate is the proof of qualifying efficiency. Volpe provides it with every quote on qualifying equipment.

Why does this matter on the math?

A worked example: 3-ton cold-climate heat pump install in a Morris County colonial.

Line itemAmount
Equipment install (premium CCHP, matched air handler, ductwork)$14,500
PSE&G SaveGreen instant rebate-$1,050
Net invoice at install$13,450
Federal IRA tax credit (claimed at tax filing)-$2,000
Net effective install cost$11,450

The combined incentive stack is $3,050 — 21% of the install cost. That’s meaningful enough to change a “marginal” upgrade into a clearly-justified one.

For homeowners using 0% on-bill financing, the $11,450 (post-credit) is spread interest-free across the PSE&G bill add-on period. Cash flow becomes very manageable.

What if the contractor isn’t a SaveGreen participant?

A non-participating contractor can install the same equipment, but the rebate path is harder:

  • You file the rebate yourself with PSE&G after the install
  • You wait 6–10 weeks for processing
  • You receive a check or credit after approval (not an instant invoice discount)
  • Forms include the AHRI certificate, invoice, equipment specification, and proof of installation completion
  • Errors in submission delay or invalidate the rebate

Volpe being a participating contractor means: you skip all of that. We submit; you save.

How Volpe Service Company approaches this

Volpe Service Company is a SaveGreen NJ Participating Contractor in good standing. We file the rebate paperwork on every qualifying install, every time. We give you the AHRI matched-system certificate for your records (the federal credit needs it). We process the customer authorization and the submission. We carry the timing risk so the rebate appears on your invoice, not later.

We’ve been doing this in Northern NJ since 1963. The SaveGreen program is a meaningful path to high-efficiency equipment accessibility for our customers — and it would be a shame to leave money on the table because the paperwork looked complicated.

Frequently asked questions

What if my equipment doesn’t qualify for SaveGreen?

We tell you that on the quote — no false promises. Lower-tier equipment may still be the right choice for your budget; we just won’t claim a rebate that doesn’t apply.

Can I get the rebate AND the federal IRA credit?

Yes — they stack. The PSE&G rebate is an utility-program discount on the equipment purchase; the federal IRA credit is a tax credit claimed on your return. Both apply to the same qualifying equipment. See our PSE&G rebate vs federal IRA credit article for the details.

Does the on-bill financing affect my credit?

The 0% on-bill financing is administered through PSE&G; the credit-history impact varies by program version. Verify current terms with PSE&G when you apply. Volpe doesn’t run a credit check for SaveGreen-financed installs.

What if rebate amounts change between quote and install?

The rebate amount on the quote reflects current PSE&G program tiers at the date of the quote. If PSE&G adjusts the program before install, the amount may shift. We’re transparent on the quote about this and re-confirm at install if there’s been a program change.

How long does the SaveGreen process take?

The instant rebate is applied at install — that’s the customer experience. PSE&G’s back-end processing happens after; Volpe carries the float so you don’t have to wait.

Are there any income limits?

Most SaveGreen base tiers have no income limits. Enhanced rebate amounts for income-qualified customers (LMI) are available; we screen for it.
